U.S. factory sales shipments increased to $861 million in 2004, up from 812.4 in 2003. Volume was estimated to be 689 million square feet that represents a 5.5% growth rate over 2003. In the U.S., ceramic tile's average price per sq. ft. was $1.25 in 2004. Domestic shipments represented about 30% of value and more than 21% of volume of 2004 U.S. tile consumption.
